The language of Burnout

This kills my pride, but it’s time for an unplanned down week.  It’s a case of the dreaded workout burnout.

Oh things were so good just a week and a half ago, in spite of the lousy weather.  The type of weather where just looking out the window gets you depressed. It was 33-34 degrees and raining.  If you’re from New England you’ve experienced these rain drops.  They’re fat, and thick and one step away from being snow.  They’ll soak you to the bone one minute; chill you to your bones the next.

An “easy” workout that gets results.

Working out just got easier. 5 X’s easier. This is an “easy” workout that gets results. Even if you’re busy you have enough time for this workout; even if you’ve never worked out before you can still do this workout; even if you’re experienced this workout can improve your fitness. Given all that, don’t you want to know what this workout entails?

The Great Workouts: The Best Treadmill Tempo Workout

Two amazing runners pushing the pace at the highest level

I am not a huge fan of running on the treadmill.  An hour can feel like two (three?) when you’re on the tread. But it has it’s value.  Case in point: Thursday’s workout. I’m officially naming it the best treadmill tempo workout.

Superstitions are the way

Superstition #1- don't touch the finish

‘When you believe in things that you don’t understand and you suffer, Superstitions ain’t the way.’- Stevie Wonder. I hate to disagree Stevie but…. If you’re going to race superstitions are the way.

The Simplest exercise plan.

Day 1 of the simplest exercise plan ever

‘If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing every day.’ I have a new theory: all it takes is five daily exercises to get fit. And you know what that means? It means I’m getting ripped this summer. This is the simplest exercise plan ever. So simple not even I can mess it up.

These exercises are a waste of time

Curls are a waste of time

Attention spans these days are like the Easter Bunny. Non existent. I can’t realistically expect you to go to the gym for hours.  Too many distractions. So let’s streamline your workout so you get in and out in as quickly as possible; a gym assassin.  That means cutting redundant, minimally effective exercises from your routine, and incorporating only those that give you a good return on investment. We’re gonna cut it down to the bone so that we have extra time for Netflix and doom scrolling. These exercises are a waste of time.

The Threat Bucket

The threat bucket explains body pain.

Cause and effect works pretty well on the whole. Until it doesn’t.  Until you’re left with a result (effect) for which you can’t determine the cause. Example? Pain. From time to time we experience pain, discomfort, illness, symptoms but quite determine the cause? Your back kills, shoulders hurt, can’t sleep, can’t shake a cold, gettin’ headaches; however, you never did anything to deserve that particular pain. Well, it just may be your threat bucket overflowing.
